The UKY Cybersecurity Risk Management Framework Bootcamp, powered by Fusion Cyber, gives students the knowledge and experience they need to defend our digital front lines. Learn how to help organizations assess their resilience, defeat cyberattacks, and stay ahead of the technological, legal, and policy challenges they may face.

The part-time curriculum covers the skills and concepts needed to establish and maintain a zero trust management framework, including: 

  • Cybersecurity foundations
  • The Risk Management Framework (CMMC, defense, cyber offense)
  • Microsoft Security Core

In addition to theoretical knowledge, you’ll also gain practical skills essential for excelling in the cybersecurity arena. Throughout the program, you’ll have opportunities to participate in browser-based keyboarding labs, where you’ll respond to threats, attacks, and hacks in our virtual cyber range.

UKY Cybersecurity RMF Bootcamp can be completed in 24 weeks (non-credit). 

Certifications

Security+ Certification

Has mastered the baseline skills needed to perform core security functions and pursue an IT security career.

Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

Works with various systems to uncover and identify weaknesses or vulnerabilities, and reinforce these gaps to prevent future hacking attempts.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

Leads an organization’s cybersecurity program, including design, implementation, and management.

Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Possesses strong knowledge of information systems auditing, assurance, control, assessment, cybersecurity, and governance.

Risk Management Framework Curriculum

Students will learn the fundamentals of information technology and security including the methodologies, frameworks, and processes organizations use to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its information, data, and IT services.

  2. Information security and privacy laws
  3. Privacy concepts and social engineering
  4. IT and cybersecurity governance
  5. IT Lifecycle Management

Students will be introduced to the NIST Risk Management Framework and demonstrate their understanding of this framework, widely used in both public and private sectors, by completing all steps in the process and creating artifacts to support a comprehensive information system security assessment based on NIST 800-53 rev 5.

  2. Cloud security and secure app development
  3. Security assessments and penetration testing
  4. Vulnerability management and threat mitigation
  5. Application attacks and methods

Students will continue their assessment of security controls and developing artifacts to support a comprehensive information system security assessment based on NIST 800-53 rev 5. 

Students will present the results of their assessment and share their recommendation for authorizing the information system.
